Desserts and Sweets Recipes - Chenamurgi

Ingredients

  • 150g/5 oz Paneer

  • 75g/3 oz sugar

  • 45ml/3 tbsp water

  • 2.5ml/1/2 kewra or rose water

  • 1.5ml/1/2 tsp ground cardamom


Method:

  1. Cut the paneer into 2.5cm x 5mm/1 x 1/4 in pieces. Dissolve the sugar in the water over a medium heat.

  2. Add the paneer pieces and stir gently until the syrup is ready to set. A drop in cold water will set and stay at the bottom.

  3. Remove from the heat, stir in the essence and cardamom and continue to stir until the pieces are cool and coated with sugar. Serve cold at tea with samosas, tamarind chutney and barfi.
