Ingredients
450g/1 lb plain (all-purpose) flour
5ml/1 tsp baking powder
1.25kg/3lb sugar
300ml/1/2 pt water
450g/1 lb ghee
5ml/1 tsp ground saffron
Method:
Sift the flour and baking powder then add enough warm water to make a thick dough. Boil the sugar with the water to form a thick syrup.
Heat the ghee to boiling point. Place the dough in an icing bag and squeeze out in small spirals into the hot ghee.
Fry until golden brown. Remove from the fat and place in the syrup to soak for 5 -10 minutes.
