Beef & Pork Recipes - Beef with Peas

Ingredients

  • 30ml/2 tbsp oil

  • 1.5ml/1/4 tsp crushed black peppercorns

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

  • 15ml/1 tbsp Basic Curry Powder

  • 3 tomatoes, skinned and chopped

  • 450g/1 lb minced beef

  • 30ml/1tbsp chopped fresh mint

  • 15ml/1 tbsp natural (plain) yoghurt

  • salt

  • 275g/10 oz peas


Method:

  1. Heat the oil and fry the peppercorns for 30 seconds. Add the onion and garlic and fry over a medium heat until lighlty browned.

  2. Stir in the curry powder and fry for 1 minute. Stir in the tomatoes and fry for 2-3 minutes until soft. Stir in the beef, mint, yoghurt and salt, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. Stir in the peas, cover and cook for a further 5 minutes. Serve hot with rice, mango chutney, salad and papadums.
