Lamb Recipes - Kuchha Konna

Ingredients

  • 900 g/2 lb boned lamb, cut into chunks

  • 100 ml/3 1/2 fl oz/6 1/2 tbsp ghee

  • 225 g/8 oz onions, sliced

  • 600 ml/1 pt/2 1/2 cups natural (plain) yoghurt

  • 2 curry leaves

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 6 cardamom pods

  • 8 cloves

  • 10 peppercorns

  • 10 ml/2 tsp ground coriander (cilantro)

  • 6 dried red chilies


Method:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a heavy based pan and add just enough water to cover. Bring to the boil and simmer over a low heat for about 1 hour until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally and adding a little more water necessary.

  2. When the onions have dissolved and the ghee appears on the surface, the curry is ready. Serve with chapattis.
