Rasam is South Indian soup eaten with rice or separately as soup. Nowadays you can get a ready make commercial Rasam Power with seasonings required with combination of variety ingredients. Traditional way of making Rasam involves mixing of tamarind juice, tomato, chili pepper and other spices as seasonings.

In Tamil language, "Rasam" means Juice or can refer to any juice but generally it referred to the one prepared with Tomato juice or Tamarind juice with added spices. In traditional Indian dining table, Rasam normally preceded by sambar rice and follow by curd rice. Rasam has distinct taste compare to sambar due to the difference ingredients and fluid in consistency.
