Seafood Recipes - Mustard Prawns

Ingredients

  • 1/2 coconut, grated (shredded)

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp mustard seeds

  • 2 green chilies

  • 450 g/1lb peeled prawns (shrimp)

  • 10 ml/2 tsp ground turmeric

  • 5 ml/1 tsp chili powder

  • salt

  • 1 bunch fresh coriander (cilantro), chopped

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp oil or ghee


Method:

  1. Grind the coconut, mustard seeds and chilies to a paste then mix with the prawns, turmeric, chili powder, salt and coriander.  

  2.  Heat the oil or ghee and fry the prawn mixture gently, stirring , for about 15 minutes. Serve hot with plain rice and dal.
