Seafood Recipes - Steamed Bengali-style Fish

Ingredients

  • 900 g/2 lb white fish fillets, cut into chunks

  • salt

  • 10 ml/2 tsp ground turmeric

  • 3 dried red chilies

  • 10 ml/2 tsp mustard seeds

  • 15 ml/1 tbsp water

  • 5 green chilies, slit

  • 30 ml/2 tbsp mustard oil


Method:

  1. Season the fish with salt and set aside. Grind the turmeric, chilies, mustard seeds and water to a smooth paste.

  2. Mix together the fish, ground paste, chilies and oil, place in a steamer and steam for 10 minutes or until tender. Serve hot with plain rice.
