Seasoning Mixture and Basic Recipes -
Coconut Powder
Ingredients
-
1/2 coconut, grated (shredded)
-
30 ml/2 tbsp red lentils
-
30 ml/2 tbsp yellow split peas
-
2.5 ml/1/2 tsp asafetida dried
red chilies
-
5 ml/1 tsp oil
-
salt
Method:
-
Dry roast the grated
coconut until golden.
Dry roast the lentils
and split peas for a few
minutes.
-
Fry the
asafoetida
and chilies
in the oil
until
lightly
browned.
Grind all
the
ingredients
to a coarse
powder,
adding salt
to taste.
Store in an
airtight
container
for 3-4 days
and serve
with hot
rice and
ghee.
