- Sindhi Mango Chutney
Ingredients
1.1kg/2 1/2 lb green mangoes
675g/1 1/2lb sugar
450ml/3/4 pt vinegar
5ml/1 tsp nigella seeds
1 bulb garlic
15ml/1 tbsp chili powder
15ml/1 tbsp salt
10ml/2 tsp black peppercorns
Method:
Peel and slice the mangoes.
Place the sugar and vinegar in a pan and stir over a
low heat until the sugar has dissolved.
Add all the
remaining ingredients and simmer over a low heat for
about 2 hours until the mangoes are soft and chutney
has turned reddish-brown and thick.
Leave to cool.
Store in airtight jars in a cool, dry place.
