Dals Recipes - Marrow and Dal Recipe
Ingredients

225g/8 oz/1 2/3 cups yellow
split peas,
soaked for 20 minutes
-
900ml/1 1/2 pts/ 3 /3/4 cups
water
-
225g/8 oz marrow (squash),
cubed
-
pinch of ground turmeric
-
salt
-
5ml/1 tsp mango powder
-
30ml/2 tbsp ghee
-
10ml/2 tsp cumin seeds
-
2.5ml/1/2 tsp cayenne
Method:
-
Boil the split peas in the
water for 20 minutes. Add the marrow and turmeric
and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the salt and
mango powder. Heat the ghee and fry the cumin seeds
and cayenne for 2 minutes. Pour over the peas and
cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot with any main courses.
