Snacks Recipes - Mysore Bondas

Ingredients

  • 100g/4 oz split black beans

  • 450ml/3/4 pt water

  • 5ml/1 tsp black peppercorns

  • 50g/2 oz grated (shredded) coconut

  • 2.5ml/1/2 tsp asafoetida

  • salt

  • 3 curry leaves

  • oil for deep-frying


Method:

  1. Soak the split beans in the water for 2 hours. Grind to a smooth batter with the remaining ingredients then shape into small balls.

  2. Heat the oil and fry the balls until golden. Drain on kitchen paper and serve hot with coconut chutney.
