Bread Rolls
Ingredients

450g/1 lb mashed potatoes
-
225g/8 oz peas, rinsed in hot
water

1 onion, finely chopped
-
1 green chili, chopped
-
100g/4 oz raisins
-
30ml/2 tbsp lemon juice
-
30ml/2 tbsp chopped fresh
coriander (cilantro)
-
5ml/1 tsp garam masala
-
2.5ml/1/2 tsp ground red chili
-
salt
-
9 slices bread, halved
-
oil for deep-frying
Method:

Mix together all the
ingredients except the bread and oil and divide into
18 equal portions. Roll them into oblong shapes and
set aside.

Fill a pan with warm water. Put
half a slice of bread in it and soak for about 30
seconds. Remove and press gently between your palms
to squeeze out the water.

Repeat with the remaining
bread. Place a portion of filling on the bread and
gently roll the bread around the mixture.

Heat the oil and fry a few
stuffed bread rolls at a time until golden brown.
Serve hot at tea with chutney and barfi or as a
starter.
